Pierre Alain Mounguengui was re-elected as the president of the Gabon Football Federation(FEGAFOOT) for yet another four year tenure in an election held at Lambarene city, about 230 KM from the capital city, Libreville.
Having spur-headed a successful 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon, Mounguengui had a firm plat form and basis as he sought re-election to the biggest football post on the land.
He tallied 22 votes (66%) compared to his closest challenger, Jerome Effong Nzolo who had 13 votes (37%).
Nzolo is a former FIFA referee who officiated in the Belgian league.
Both Mounguengui and Nzolo participated in the first round of voting that had five candidates before the final which saw the two go neck-to-neck with Mounguengui getting nod.
Pierre Alain Mounguengoui, Jerome Effong Nzolo, Placide Xavier Bourdette, Blanchard Paterne Andoume and Bosco Alaba Fall all took part in the first round of elections.
The election was witnessed by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) and Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) representative cum Mauritania Football Association president Ahmed Yahya.

I am happy i got the nod of the football delegates to run football in Gabon.That is a vote of confidence in my leadership which i was to be all inclusive.I want to thank all the delegates those who voted for me and those who did not as i promise to work with everyone to make Gabon football better than it is. I have many plans that i would like implemented both for youth,women and our senior teams so as to be more competitive across Africa
