Mbarara based Nyamityobora Football Club on Thursday, 26th April 2018 overcame nemesis Kitara from Hoima 2-1 to earn promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

Forward Robert Mukhongota (on loan from URA F.C) and veteran midfielder Bruhan Matovu scored the all important goals.

Denis Mande got the consolation for the visiting side in a well attended match.

Nyamityobora gets to 48 points and can not be dislodged by any club in the Rwenzori Group.

Coached by former Uganda Cranes international winger James Odoch, Nyamityobora becomes the first club to get promoted for top flight football this season.

Club captain Douglas Muganga lauded his teammates for the job well done throughout the season. He also appreciated the technical and managerial wings of the club as well as the club fans for the journey well moved throughout the season;

In some of the other Rwenzori group results recorded on Thursday,  Kireka United overcame Kira United 3-1 at the Namboole outside training play ground.

Kansai Plascon won 2-0 at home to Greater Masaka, Sun City lost at home 1-0 to visiting Water and Synergy outmuscled Ntinda United 2-1 at the Masaka recreational stadium.

In the Elgon group, Paidha Black Angels fell 1-0 away to Kataka at the Mbale Municipal Stadium, Bukedea played to a goal-less draw with Busia Fisheries as Kamuli Park and Kyetume shared the spoils in a 4 goal thriller.

Kabale Sharp defeated Bumate United 4-0 at the Kabale Municipal Stadium and Agape won 1-0 against Amuka Bright Stars in Namutumba.

Two other clubs will play for the remain slots with the top in Elgon group earning a direct slot and the third club shall be determined via a promotional play off.
