Sebestien Migne couldn’t hide his delight at landing the Kenya Harambee Stars job and admits he is ready for the challenge.
The French man was unveiled on Thursday by the FKF President Nick Mwendwa to take over from Paul Put who resigned for ‘personal reasons’ a couple of months ago.
The former immediate Congo Brazzaville tactician whose first competitive fixture will be a home tie against Ghana in the 2019 Afcon qualifier due in September said; “I’m so happy to be here – new challenge and in a new country.
“I am ready and will start right away by watching league matches. We have a big challenge ahead with immediate task being against Ghana.
The former assistant to legendary Claude Le Roy who has coached in DR Congo, Ghana and Togo among others also revealed he has moved with his assistants and medic describing them as competent.
“I have brought a competent assistant with me, Mr Nicolas who has been in the technical department of France as well as with the Chad national team. I have also brought with me a keeper trainer and a medic which is so important. I will also work with the local coaches.
FKF President Mwendwa described the French man as one of the best young coaches on the continent before revealing the government will chip in to fulfill the obligations of the contract.
“He is among the best young coaches in Africa,” said Mwendwa. “I’m very pleased to announce him as the coach with his assistant Nicolas Bouriqquet-cor. I think we have the right man for the job,” he added before revealing length of contract. “They have all signed 3-year contracts.”
“The Ministry (of Sports and Heritage) has assured they will support us in terms of fulfilling his contractual obligations.
In between Put and Migne has been Kenyan coach Stanley Okumbi.
Kenya is vying to qualify for the Afcon finals for the first time since 2004.
