Emmanuel Ibe Obinna celebrates a league goal
Mbarara City Football Club registered their third consecutive one all draw in the Uganda Premier League within a space of 10 days.
Christened as the “Ankole Lions”, the league debutants once again played to a one all draw with Proline at the Kakyeeka Stadium on Saturday.
Proline took the lead through Daniel Isiagi Opolot’s 35th minute opener for his 9 goal of the season.
Mbarara City replied 10 minutes into the second half when referee Muzamil Tulu pointed to the spot in a decision bitterly protested by the visiting players and officials alike.
Nigerian import Emmanuel Ibe Obinna scored the resultant penalty sending the goalkeeper in the wrong way.
This was the third time that the former URA forward was scoring in quick succession for the Ankole Lions bankrolled by Western Youth Member of Parliament, Mwine Mpaka.
Obinna also scored a late minute gasp penalty as Mbarara City shared the spoils with Sports Club Villa Jogoo and was again on the mark for the opener in Mbarara City’s one all draw with Masavu at the Fisheries Training Institute, Bugonga.
Proline’s Ibrahim Ssendi, Simon Mbaziira and Nigerian Lyasele Odili were all cautioned in the game.
This was the 6th draw for Proline as they remain second from bottom with 27 points, just like Express who also drew one all at URA in Namboole.
Mbarara City gets to 29 points in 11th place with no assurance of having survived relegation yet.
Mujib Kasule and Baker Mbowa’s coached Proline faces KCCA in the Lugogo derby this Tuesday, 8th May 2018 as Mbarara City will entertain Onduparaka in Mbarara on the subsequent day.
