Kirinya-Jinja S.S Football Club has temporarily put on hold Vipers celebrations en-route a third Uganda Premier League championship.

A one-all draw at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, on the outskirts of Jinja town left many of the Venom faithful frustrated since maximum points would have enlightened their chances of lifting this year’s championship with at least a game left.

Kirinya-Jinja S.S took the lead through Isma Kawawulo as early as the 9th minute of the game when he beat goalkeeper Isma Watenga for the opener.

The home side led 1-0 by the mandatory half time break.

Twelve minutes into the second half, midfielder Moses Waiswa brought the game level.

Attempts by either sides to kill off the game proved futile by the final whistle of FIFA female referee Aisha Ssemambo Nabikko.

Kirinya-Jinja S.S Makon Landry and Vipers hard tackling Tadeo Lwanga were cautioned for unsporting conduct in the 42nd and 54th minutes of the game respectively.

The game marked the return of Da Costa on Vipers’ touch line after a four match ban.

Vipers now get to 59 points from 28 matches, five points better than second placed KCCA who have a game in hand.
