After clinching his fourth Kenya National Rally Championship, Carl Tundo now dreams of bigger things in his rally career.
Navigated by Tim Jessop in a Mitsubishi Evo X, Tundo dominated the Kenya rally season registering five victories – including the prestigious Safari Rally – of the seven events covered so far.
Tundo capped the impressive run with a title winning performance in Eldoret last weekend.
“It has been a tough fight. But the season moved on well. The team has done a fantastic job, we have finished all the events and seemed to come on top quite a few times.
“We have proven that we still have the pace. Given the age, we wouldn’t think that a fourth title is there,” said Tundo.
Tundo now joins Ian Duncan and Rory Green among crews with four KNRC titles.
The Topfry Rally driver could now shift to a higher gear as he hopes to soon attempt the African Rally Championship.
“I would really love to do ARC before I retire but I have not had the best opportunity yet. And besides, ARC has not been so competitive in the recent years.
“But if it’s true the Kabras Team is planning of enter ARC soon, that will also give me more reason to take part since a tight competition will be assured unlike before when it’s just about two cars,” he said.
Tundo believes he has all the requirements for the ARC chase.
“I can take on ARC anytime. My car has all that is required for ARC. I only need to change a few things from it’s current state. I know ARC needs lots of logistics, but we can work around that if we decide to enter,” he added.
