- UCU Lady Canons 69-75 JKL Lady Dolphins | JKL lead series 2-0

The 2018 women’s National Basketball League title is JKL Lady Dolphins’ to lose.
The side underpinned their intentions by coming from down to beat UCU Lady Canons, 75-69, in Game 2 of the finals.
Down a game after falling in the opener, Lady Canons started like a house on fire quickly assuming a double digit lead which they maintained at the end of the quarter.
Lady Dolphins however fought back taking full advantage of UCU’s late turnovers and bad shots with Jamila Nansikombi and Muhayimina Namuwaya finishing at the other end to close the gap to just 2 (33-35) by halftime.
After the break, Hope Akello made two lay-ups in succession followed by a three-pointer from Ritah Imanishimwe and JKL were in control.
It was UCU’s turn to chase the game and eventually caught up at 42 on Rosine Micomyiza’s jumper but Lady Dolphins through Falvia Oketcho, Akello, Nansikombi and Imaninshimwe gave the side a four point lead heading into the final quarter.

Imanishimwe knocked down a three-pointer to start the the fourth quarter, followed by a couple of lay-ups from Nansikombi and Akello to put JKL’s lead into double figures.
UCU Lady Canons through Vilam Achieng, Sarah Ageno and Zainah Lokwameri fought back and twice came within a point, but Nansikombi hit a huge 3-pointer with under 40 seconds that broke UCU’s back.
Nansikombi poured in game high 24 points, Imanishimwe added 17 points while Akello (12 points and 12 rebounds) and Namuwaya (12 points and 11 points) racked up double-doubles.
Ageno scored team high 18 points for Lady Canons, Achieng scored 14 points and picked 12 rebounds. Lokwameri (13 points) and Brenda Kayaga (11 points) were the other Lady Canons to score in double figures.
Game 3 of the series is on Monday night at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
