“Where, O death, is your victory?  Where, O death, is your sting? Questions the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians in chapter 15 verse 55.

Over the years, answers to Apostle Paul’s questions will forever remain a mystery to living humanity.

Diligent photo journalist, Eddie Galiwango, 39, a freelancer of sorts died on Sunday, October 21, 2018 following a short spell of sickness.

According to a colleague, Clive Kyazze, Ggaliwango was pronounced dead at around 1:30 PM, at Life Link Hospital in Ntinda, Kampala.

“Eddie Ggaliwango is dead. He was admitted on Thursday with a severe headache but his condition got worse before breathing his last on Sunday,” Clive’s message read.

A couple of months back, a frail Galiwango resolved to return to his home area in Luwero until his condition deteriorated and he was ferried back to Kampala to acquire medication courtesy of close associates led by Vipers Sports Club marketing director Simon Ssekankya, who offered free medication to the patient at his Life Link health facility.

He was first admitted at Life Link Hospital and stabilized before being discharged to resume normal sports photography business.

Galiwango’s last public appearance was during the Uganda Premier League game between Police and Express at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.

He had been a common feature, capturing moments through the lens at most sports events in the country – football, netball, hockey, cricket, basketball, athletics, mention it.

For his unquestionable passion and love for the job, Galiwango won more friends than foes across the divide.

“Galiwango Eddy: Always loved and never forgotten,” the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) eulogized.

“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ,” Apostle Paul ironically answers himself in verses 56 and 57.

Galiwango leaves behind a widow Viola Birungi but sadly no off spring.

He will be laid to rest in his eternal bed on Monday, 22nd October 2018 at the family burial grounds at Nakaseta village in Luwero.

Rest in Peace Eddy Ggaliwango!
