The Masaza football cup final is one of the watched sporting events in the country

There are barely a few hours left to the long-awaited kick off of the 2018 Airtel Masaza football finals between Buddu and Ssingo at Mandela National Stadium this coming Saturday.

The match day tickets are already on the market in Kampala, Masaka, Mityana, Entebbe road and the surrounding areas.

According to a preliminary survey conducted by Kawowo Sports on Thursday, all signs indicate that the match will sell out.

“We have sold at least three booklets of 10,000/= tickets. The people are buying the tickets each hour.” a ticket seller in Masaka reveals.

The demand for tickets in Mityana, where Ssingo hails from is also promising with a quarter of the tickets supplied there sold off.

“The fans are just fighting for the tickets. 10,000/= tickets are more selling than any of the other catergories” Rehema, a ticker vendor in Mityana confesses.

Kabaka Mutebi II will be the chief guest as the two counties battle for the top honours on Saturday.

Before the main final, there will be a third-place play off match between Busujju and Buwekula.

Meanwhile, there was a joint meeting and press conference from the local organizing committee, stake holders, security agencies and the media.

“Everything is in place to ensure we have successful finals. Security is top notch and the condition of the stadium is great. The four teams are ready and we expect a smooth day” Samuel Mpiima, the committee head coach noted.

Airtel Uganda’s Remmie Kisakye, the communications and marketing manager reconfirms the firm’s overwhelming desire to continue supporting this tournament.

“As Airtel Uganda, we remain committed towards supporting the Masaza tournament. It is now four years down the road, but we have no regrets whatsoever. From grassroots football through the Airtel Rising Stars, the Masaza cup to the national team (Uganda Cranes), Airtel Uganda will support Uganda’s football. We are privileged to be part” Kisakye noted.

Buddu and Ssingo will off in a repeat of the 2015 final where Ssingo humbled Buddu 5-0 in a one sided encounter.

Between now and then, a lot of water has passed under the bridge.

Buddu boosts of Kutesa Marida, a stylish player who creates and shoots at will.

Ssingo, on the other hand has the tournament top scorer Jude Ssemugabi (8 goals).
