The 2018 National Rally Championship will come in two week’s time with the Oryx Energies Elgon Rally scheduled for November 9-11 in Mbale.

The much anticipated event will play the title decider for the only three crews vying for this year’s crown. Ronald Sebuguzi, Susan Muwonge and Jas Mangat all have a shot at the title.

Sebuguzi is currently leading the standings with 340 points,  Susan Muwonge is placed second with 315 with Jas Mangat on 305 points. With the title this close, Sebuguzi will only need to finish second to secure his fourth NRC title.

For Susan Muwonge; a second NRC title is just as much likely but the Subaru driver will have to aim for a win while her contenders finish below the top three positions.

Just like Muwonge, Jas Mangat’s only chance for his fourth title is in winning the season finale while the rivals finish outside the podium positions.

However, the title contenders’ strategy is still subjected to FMU’s review of the Pearl Rally points. But the Sporting Commission remains undecided over points review after a month.

The review is likely to come out with either a deduction in current standings or the same points retained.

In case of the deduction, all the three contenders will have to go for nothing else but a win. Whoever will claim the Mbale Rally victory will as well  be crowned the 2018 NRC champion.

The ultimate round in Mbale will cover a total distance of 176.62km consisting of five stages on day one and four stages on the final day.
