Newly appointed Lugazi Municipal Football Club head coach Daniel “Danicho Ten” Segawa’s prime objective among others is to ensure that he attains promotion to the second-tier division, FUFA Big League.

Segawa recently took over Lugazi Municipal after he put pen to paper on a two-year deal (subject to extension upon satisfactory performance).

In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports, Segawa, who is also the head coach at St Julian Secondary Schools shared his plans for the season;

I am glad to be at Lugazi Municipal Football Club. The immediate task ahead of me and my technical team is to assemble a winning solid team. We want to qualify for the play-offs and eventually qualify for the FUFA Big League.

Segawa is deputized by Moses Bulega and the two have been working around the clock to build a formidable side, one that opens up the challenge at home against Seeta United at the Mehta Stadium, Lugazi.

He cites team work, hard work and commitment as the prime objectives towards attaining the intended targets.

“Football is a collective sport where teamwork is best exhibited. I will therefore urge the players to remain as hardworking as possible as well as committed with focus to play every match with the due responsibility it accords” Segawa, himself a former player at SC Villa and Friends of Lugazi, adds.

Key elements

Lugazi Municipal FC has assembled a number of formidable players as former Kibuli S.S captain Godfrey Tabu, stylish midfielders Amir Tutu, Hadad Kambugu, diminutive winger Hitler Buga, tried and tested aggressive St Mary’s Kitende forward Gerald “Mwenda” Ogwette, Paul Wasswa, Umar Kayemba, Dennis Ojera, Shamiru Kimweru, Denis Okot and goalkeeper Edgar Epiyia among others.

The Buganda Regional league is grouped under two pools – Ssezibwe and Katonga.

The 2018/19 season kicks off this weekend with a number of fixtures on board.

Last season, Kiboga Young were the champions, before facing off with Katwe United whom they ejected to book a slot in the Big league.
