CAF “A” licenced football coach Charles Ayiekho Lukula is also popularly known as “Mbuzzi”, literally translated at “Goat”.

There is a rich antidote to that nick-name that dates as far back as the early 90’s relating the coach’s early days at Villa Park, Nsambya, the home of Sports Club Villa.

Ayiekho began his football journey at Villa Park and today, he is head coach at Kirinya-Jinja S.S Football Club after previously serving with diligence at Police, Bunamwaya (now Vipers) and Soana.

Recently, he was elevated by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to the Uganda U-23 national side (Kobs) technical team.

Football takes commitment, hard work and patience. I am so honoured for the appointment. I thank FUFA for this appointment. This is a dream come true since I started my coaching career.

Ayiekho will work alongside Wasswa Bbosa owing to the fact that head coach Sebastien Desabre will be occupied by preparations of the senior team (Uganda Cranes) ahead of the Cape Verde game.

Ayiekho has vowed to impact his football knowledge and skills to help the team;

“This is a great opportunity to work with my colleagues and share my football knowledge and skills as I serve my country with passion.” Ayiekho added.

Former Uganda Cranes legendary goalkeeper Sadiq Wassa is the Uganda Kobs goalkeeping coach as another international Ayub Balyejusa as the team coordinator.

Yahya Katumba is the medical officer of the team.

Uganda Kobs will face South Sudan between November 14th and 26th in a two-legged encounter.

Relatedly, Uganda Cranes will host Cape Verde at the Mandela National Stadium on the 17th November 2018 in a group L clash of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers before facing Nigeria on 20th November in an international build up match that will be played in Asaba.
