- Vipers 1-1 KCCA

Like during the pre-match build up, epic action was anticipated when KCCA visited the reigning champions Vipers on the St Mary’s Stadium newly astro turf.
Goals, fancy breathtaking moments, key decisions from the match referees, created goal scoring moments, fluffed chances including a penalty as well as thrilling moments on the field of play as in the terraces, by the fans alike.
The game ended one goal apiece, the home team scoring through lethal striker Dan Muzeyi Sserunkuma in the first half and a rare strike by defender Filbert Obenchan as the second half restarted.
The two sides kicked off with desperate attempts and clear-cut missions at hand.
KCCA’s Julius Poloto shook off an early injury scare inside the opening ten minutes.

On the quarter hour mark, KCCA left back Mustapha Kizza free kick was parried away by goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora.
Vipers replied four minutes later through Yayo Kato Lutimba with a shot off target off an acute angle on the left.
KCCA would have taken the lead on 22 minutes through Henry Patrick Kaddu, the Uganda Cranes’ forward failed to tap home Kizza’s telling delivery from the left wing.
FIFA Referee Alex Muhabi waved off a 25th minute penalty shout when Vipers’ right back Fred Okot had a handball incident.
KCCA’s Allan Okello had a fierce shot miss target narrowly on 29 minutes.
Vipers’ vice-captain Geofrey Wasswa had an attempt off target on the hour mark before Bashir Asiku and Wassw himself a nearly combined to put home a corner by Duncan Sseninde.

Vipers took the lead through Sserunkuma in the 34th minute after Abraham Ndugwa laid a teasing grounder from the right that found Duncan Sseninde who squared for Sserunkuma to find from close range.
The former KKL, Super Cubs, Victors, Express, Gor Mahia and Bandari striker Sserunkuma was in the right position to tap home the opener and alight the stadium into life.
Five minutes later, KCCA would have found the equalizer but Okello’s shot narrowly missed the target.
In the 41st minute, Ndugwa had with a left footed shot well saved by KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago after beating two defenders for virtually the last chance of the opening stanza.
When the second half returned, KCCA made a change. On came fast winger Muwadda Mawejje, replacing Mustafa Kizza.
Halid Lwaliwa was booked for a foul on Allan Okello right at the edge of the 18 yard goal mark.
Okello rose up to deliver the resultant free-kick that was drilled home by defender Filbert Obenchan for the equalizer.
KCCA remained offensive and missed taking a 62nd minute lead through Allan Kyambadde with a goalie to beat incident.

Ibrahim Sadam Juma orchestrated a good move with a forward pass for Julius Poloto whose through ball was well controlled by Allan Kyambadde.
Kyambadde’s effort was foiled by the Vipers goalkeeper Mutombora for a fruit-less corner kick.
In the 67th minute, Okello released Kyambadde into space. The former Express and SC Villa forward dribbled into the Vipers’ penalty before he was tripped down by Lwaliwa and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
Midfielder Ibrahim Sadam Juma missed the resultant penalty and a chance to take the lead.
Vipers’ responded and defensive midfielder Wasswa had a rare venture into the KCCA goal area.
His curled shot bounces off the chest of goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.
The two teams further made changes in the game in a bid to make the made through that never arrived.
Brian Nkuubi Ssemakula, Joseph Janjali and Tom Masiko replaced Sseninde, Ndugwa and Wafula respectively for Vipers.
KCCA introduced Jackson Nunda for Patrick Henry Kaddu in the 78th minute.
