Moses Basena chances to stay on as SC Villa coach further diminished after his side lost to Mbarara City 2-1 at Kavumba on Saturday.

Paul Mucureezi scored the winner as the Ankole Lions returned to winning ways prolonging SC Villa’s wait for a league victory this season.

Former SC Villa captain Asumani Alishe put the hosts in front at the death of half time and the Jogoos responded in the 63rd minute through Bashir Mutanda.

But the Ankole Lions had other ideas with a quarter to go as Mucureezi struck the winner for his first goal since he joined the side from KCCA.

It was his third strike against the 16-time champions and helps the club to climb to 7th with 10 points from six games while SC Villa drop to second from bottom with only three points.

There was a scuffle at the end of the game as Villa fans tried to attack Basena who was whisked away by Police.

SC Villa return to action next week with another tough game against former immediate champions KCCA.
