Morocco’s Raja Casablanca and DR Congo’s AS Vita face off in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup in Morocco with each targeting a decent result.
The two sides renew acquaintances after facing off in the group stages with the Casablanca outfit drawing 0-0 at home and losing 2-0 away to the Kinshasa outfit in the group stage.
Raja Casablanca coach Garrido
targets a second triumph in the competition after he guided Al Ahly of Egypt to
success in the competition four years ago.
Raja are one of the most successful clubs in Africa after winning the Champions
League three times and both the Super Cup and the now defunct CAF Cup once.
However, they are looking at
winning a continental crown for the first time in 15 years when they won the CAF
Cup under the late French coach Henri Michael.
For Vita Club, they last tasted African glory 45 years ago but under coach
Florent Ibenge, they have a big chance to win another title.
A victory over two legs for the Congo side will keep the trophy in the nation for a third year in succession after TP Mazembe won it in 2016 and 2017.
The winner will bag $1.25 million (1.1 million euros) richer while the runners-up receive $625,000.
