Tanzania won the 2018 Copa Dar es Salaam beach soccer championship at Coco beach on Sunday.

2018 Copa Dar es Salaam Tourney:

Final: Tanzania 2-1 Uganda Sand Cranes

Classification match: Malawi 8 (3) – (4) 8 Seychelles

Uganda Sand Cranes will wait a little longer to smile to the Copa Dar es Salaam beach soccer championship victory.

This followed a narrow 2-1 loss to the hosts, Tanzania during the 2018 Copa Dar es Salaam beach soccer championship finale played at Coco beach on Sunday.

Tanzania scored through Yahya Tumbo and an unfortunate own goal from Uganda’s goalkeeper and team captain Meddie Kibirige.

But vice captain Allan Katwe scored the consolation for the Ugandans to give some hope of forcing the game to penalties.

During the classification match, Seychelles took third place after a hard fought 4-3 post match penalty win following an 8 all draw with Malawi in normal time.

Last year’s winners Zanzibar did not field a team as they joined forces with home side Tanzania.

Tanzania used the 2018 copa Dar es Salaam as a perfect plat form to prepare for this year’s AFCON beach soccer championship next month in Egypt.

Team Uganda embarks on the 1600 KM road journey back home and will arrive in Kampala on Tuesday by 2 PM.
