Kariobangi Sharks (Kenya) 6-1 Arta Solar (Djibouti)
Ugandan George Abege was one of the goal scorers as Kenya’s Kariobangi Sharks began their continental journey with a massive 6-1 win over Djibouti’s Arta Solar.
The Kenyan side, on their debut in the Caf Confederation Cup saw themselves 4-0 up inside 41 minutes before the visitors pulled one back in the last minute of the first half.
Besides former Maroons striker Abege, other goal scorers for the Kenyan Shield (Uganda’s version of Stanbic Uganda Cup) winners are Duke Abuya, Sydney Lokale, Patillah Omotto, Fidel Origa and an own-goal from Ayuk Forchap.
The return leg will be played in a weeks’ time but the Sharks look destined to meet Ghana’s sleeping giants Asante Kotoko in the next round.
KCCA are Uganda’s flag bearers in the competition and are likely to meet Tanzania’s Mtibwa Sugar who won 4-0 against Northern Dynamo of Seychelles in the next round.
Elsewhere, 10-man Green Eagles of Zambia won 2-0 against Young Buffaloes of Eswatini.
