Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club progressed to next round of the CAF Confederation cup following a well worked out 2-1 away win over Tanzania’s Mtibwa Sugar at the Azam Sports Complex, Chamzai on Saturday.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club progressed to next round of the CAF Confederation cup following a well worked out 2-1 away win over Tanzania’s Mtibwa Sugar at the Azam Sports Complex, Chamzai on Saturday.

Midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba gave the 12 time Uganda Premier League champions the lead on 28 minutes to take the command in the opening 45 minutes.

Salum Kihimbwa brought the game square with a headed strike six minutes into the second half.

With the game seemingly destined for a one all stalemate, youngster Allan Okello restored KCCA’s lead with a seal, to win 2-1 and complete a double over the Tanzanians having won 3-0 in the first leg a week earlier.

The victory, the first away continental win for KCCA in two years also booked them a berth for the next round.

The Ugandan ambassadors had defeated Mtibwa Sugar 3-0 in the opening leg of the first round at the Star Times astro turf of Lugogo in Kampala last Saturday.

Three second half strikes from Allan Kyambadde, Patrick Henry Kaddu and Allan Okello won the game for KCCA at home.

KCCA have secured one of 15 slots to play in the playoff round – preserved for the winners of the first round.

The 15 winners will face off against the 15 losers of the CAF Champions League first round. Ugandan side Vipers SC feature here.

Vipers, the defending Ugandan league champions, were relegated to the Confederation Cup on Saturday after falling 3-0 on aggregate to Algerian side CS Constantine.

Uganda now has two representatives in the Confederation Cup play-off stage, whose draw will be held on December 28, 2018.
