FUFA Big League club Wakiso Giants Football Club awaits a board room decision by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) competitions committee concerning the fate of their Uganda Cup round of 64 earlier scheduled for the Christmas eve.
This follows the failure of Vision Football Club to travel for the game that had been slated for the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe on the outskirts of Jinja Municipal.
Like Wakiso Giants, the fate of a couple of more games will be known in the board following the failure of the matches to kick off for varying reasons.
Paidha Black Angels – Express FC match was not played because Paidha Black Angels arrived late at the venue and failed too, to provide security.
Kabale Sharp failed to travel to Northern Uganda where they were scheduled to face Calvary Football Club.
In Kumi, the Akadot – Kitara FC game was also not played because Akadot reached the venue late and failed to provide security as well.
Jinja Municipal Council Hippos, a second tier club was supposed to play Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in Jinja but the match did not materialise because JMC Hippos failed to show up at the Mandela National Stadium.
The FUFA Competitions Committee will first study the match referees’ reports for the matches affected before coming up with a decisionAhmed Hussein, FUFA Public Relations Officer (PRO)
Meanwhile, Proline became the latest FUFA Big League side to join the Uganda Cup round of 32 stage, winning 3-1 against Light S.S.S from Soroti 3-1 at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Christmas eve.
Light S.S scored the opener through Lawrence Alaboro but lost grip of the game following goals by Allan Gerald Egaku (brace) and Mustafa Mujjuzi’s penalty.
In the other game played on Monday at the Namboole outside play-ground, Kampala regional side St Mary’s Nabweru eliminated FUFA Big League entity Kiira United 5-4 on post-match penalties, after normal time had ended one goal apiece.
Meanwhile, the Uganda Cup will resume with two matches on boxing box.
Last season’s winners Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club and losers Vipers will both be in action.
The two clubs have been engaged with continental engagements in the CAF Champions League and Confederation cup.
Both sides will be at their respective astro-turf surface homes in Lugogo and Kitende.
KCCA hosts Lira district’s Amuka Bright Stars at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo and Vipers will entertain Ruskekere Growers at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The winners of the Uganda Cup earns a ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
