- KCCA Vs Police – StarTimes stadium, Lugogo 4pm
KCCA host Police in the first Lugogo derby of the season eager to maintain their decent run against the Cops.
The 12-time champions have won seven of their last ten league games against the Cops but have won just once with in the past three with Abdallah Mubiru in charge.
Coaches Mike Mutebi (KCCA) and Mubiru (Police) are optimistic it will be a very good match but target maximum points.
“I think it will be a very interesting match because Police also plays some very good football,” said Mutebi who replaced Mubiru at KCCA. “They play that kind of football which is punctuated with offensive, smart play and entertaining. That’s why I believe it’s going to be a good match,” he added.
“In the end, it will be a hard one but I think we have enough in our armoury to negotiate that tie.
Mubiru was in charge when his side lost 2-0 to KCCA in the corresponding fixture last season despite dominating play also echoed nearly the same sentiments.
“It will be a good match,” said Mubiru. “We face a very good team, log leaders with a good coach and so much quality in their squad but I believe in my boys as well,” he added.
“These are the kind of games players want and there is no extra motivation and hopefully, we come out top at the end of the day.
Ibrahim Saddam Juma is the only missing player for the hosts through injury with Julius Poloto and Bernard Muwanga available for selection after getting minutes away to Bul.
Police also welcome former KCCA youth team defender Paul Willa from suspension and they are also boosted by the return of Hassan ‘Gaata’ Kalega who missed the 3-2 win over Kirinya Jinja SS due to a minor knock.
Midfielder Samuel Kayongo remains out with injury while forwards Norman Ojik and Ronald Nyanzi are expected to be available as well.
- KCCA and Police are the highest goal scoring sides in the league with 27 and 19 respectively.
- KCCA have not lost to Police in the last ten league meetings but two of three draws have come with Mubiru in charge at the Cops.
- The previous four meetings between Mutebi and Mubiru as coaches have ended in a win for either and two draws.
