AFCON 2019:

June 15 – July 15

In Egypt

News that Egypt will host the 2019 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations has left the Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre a delighted man.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed Egypt as the hosts for this year’s 24 team tournament, beating South Africa which had also bid to host following the scrapping off of the rights from Cameroon.

Desabre shared his thoughts with the official Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) web site about the development.

It is good news because I like Egypt. The fans in Egypt are fantastic. For the Uganda Cranes fans, it is near in terms of travel. I am happy but I hope the draw puts us in Ismailia

For starters, Desabre has previously coached Ismaily Football Club, his immediate past game before taking over the Uganda Cranes job.

Uganda Cranes is among the confirmed 24 countries that will play at AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
