  • AS Otoho D’Oyo (Congo) 3-0 KCCA (Uganda)

Congo’s AS Otoho D’Oyo scored three goals without response past KCCA during the opening leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff played at the Stade Omni Sport Marien Ngoubi D’Owando on Sunday.

Yedan Moussa’s first half brace and a late strike by Kikasa Wamba inspired the home side to a morale boosting victory at home ahead of next weekend’s return leg at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Yedan struck the opener in the 20th minute from the spot following a penalty awarded when skipper Timothy Dennis Awany was adjudged to have fouled in a 50-50 challenge.

The forward doubled the lead two minutes later.

Wamba put the icing on the cake with the third, fifteen minutes from time, for KCCA’s heaviest loss in continental football since suffering a 4-0 defeat to Tunisian side Club Africain last year.

Also, the Kasasiro lads had lost 3-0 to Morocco’s FUS Rabat in the Confederations Cup, in May 2017.

There was a late change in the KCCA FC starting lineup with Herbert Achai preferred by the technical team ahead of Eric Ssenjobe on the left side of midfield in the 3-4-3 formation.

Lawrence Bukenya and Mike Mutyaba were replaced by Muzamir Mutyaba and Allan Kyambadde respectively in the second half.

Alou Bagayoko hit the KCCA goal post to be denied the fourth goal on the evening.

Otoho had eliminated Primeiro De Agosto on away goal’s rule (after a four-all draw over the two legs).

They travel to Kampala for next weekend’s return leg on astro truf of Lugogo.

KCCA needs four goals to nil for a berth in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia won their match 2-1, against Guinea’s New Star, Zesco United beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 and Ethiopia’s Jimma Kenema fell 1-0 at home to Hassania Agadir.
