The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has voted for the best sports personalities of the year 2018.

Sports journalists met at their first monthly meeting of 2019 on Monday, January 14 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

City Oilers guard Jimmy Enabu was voted the best male basketball player. Enabu won the national league for a sixth season running and was part of the the Silverbacks that fell short at the World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, JKL Lady Dolphins forward Jamila Nansikombi was voted best female player.

Nansikombi played MVP basketball throughout the 2018 season, leading JKL to their first ever league title.

She was also part of Uganda’s 3×3 side that played at the World Cup, U23 World Cup and the African Championship. She played an important role at all the 3×3 stops.

Nansikombi’s huge year was caped by an allstar place at the Africa Club Championship, where she turned out for KPA.

Enabu, Nansikombi and other winners will recieve their plaques at an awards dinner that will take place in March.
