For his unquestionable leadership and industriousness on and off the field of play, Hashim Sempala has been named the new captain of Kenya Premier League outfit Tusker Football Club.

The former BUL FC stocky diligent midfielder joined club almost three years ago.

He takes over the prestigious club armband from veteran goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng.

Peter Nzuki and Mike Madoya are the new club’s first and second assistant captains respectively.

Former captain Ochieng remains a player as well as a technical committee member.

First and foremost, I want to thank the technical bench and the management for entrusting me with leading this great club. To the outgoing captains, Lloyd and Duncan you have guided us and brought us together as a team through your time. It is not an easy task I will do my best with my fellow captains Peter Nzuki and Madoya Michael to make sure that we lead this club for the better.

Head coach Robert Matano lauded the previous captains Lloyd Wahome and Ochieng.

I want to thank Duncan and Lloyd they have been instrumental in the team and as a technical bench, we saw it wise that we change the captains and have fresh leadership in the team. I would urge the players to cooperate with the incoming captains as they did before. I have complete faith in them and I believe that they will lead the club to greater heights
