Frank Ankwakasa and Zephaniah Katungi have been rewarded for their good form in 2018 with a one month training camp in Potchesfstroom, South Africa.
The trip is fully funded by the ICC and runs from January 14 to February 20. The high performance camp will be conducted by the Gordon Parsons and the Ugandan duo will join other youngsters from other African nations.
The duo were rewarded for being the most consistent performers amongst their peers over the 2018 season.
During this time, Zephaniah Arinaitwe Katungi managed to break into the senior side being part of the Qatar-India tour early last year and the Africa T20 Cup squad. If it was not for his academic commitments he was in contention for a place on the side that went to Oman.
Katungi is one of the most exciting prospects with bat and opportunities such as this will allow him develop into a world class batsman.
Frank Akankwasa was elevated to captain of the U19 side alongside being captain for his club side Strikers in the local league. The bowling all rounder has led from the front with both ball and bat and this gives him an opportunity to grow his game and leadership skills.
Both players will be key for the U19 side that will be travelling to Namibia for the World Cup Qualifiers in March and this opportunity gives them a chance to improve their skills.
