Reigning league champions Vipers SC have reportedly added Burundi national team captain Karim Nizigiyimana to their ranks.
The right back whose contract with Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia expired in December has reportedly penned a two year with the club.
According Nation Sport, Nizigiyimana move has only been delayed by issuance of the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) that was finally secured on Tuesday.
The 29 year old is regarded as arguably the best right back in the CECAFA region and is visibly seen as a perfect replacement for Vipers former skipper, Nicholas Wadada.
Nizigiyimana joined the KPL side in 2014 from Rayon Sport of Rwanda but has previously played for Burundi’s Vital’O and DR Congo giants AS Vita Club among others.
If the deal is through as reported, Nizigiyimana joins former Gor Mahia teammate Innocent Wafula at the Kitende-based club.
The Burundi international has won three KPL titles with K’Ogalo and was named the best defender as Gor Mahia won the league unbeaten in 2015.
Since the departure of Wadada, Vipers have ably replaced him with Fred Okot, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Bashir Asiku and Geoffrey Wasswa all featuring in the position but the signing on Nizigiyimana will ably put all this to end.
