JMC Hippos 3-1 Nebbi Central

Entebbe condemned newly promoted FUFA Big League outfit Nebbi Central 3-0 at the lake side Fisheries Training Institute play ground in Bugonga, Entebbe on Tuesday.

Muhammed Sharif Ochaya and Andrew Ssekayombya (brace) were both on target as Entebbe Football Club registered their first victory of the second round, under new coach James Odoch.

Ochaya, a former Express midfielder struck the opener as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of the home team.

Ssekayombya struck a brace in the second half as Entebbe worked for maximum points at home.

This was the first time that Entebbe played at Bugonga since being relegated from the Uganda Premier League,

Entebbe had been hosting their home matches right from the first round at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium because the Fisheries ground was not up standard as required by the FUFA licensing body.

Entebbe gets to 13 points and at least, for the time being safe from relegation.

Nebbi Central suffered their second defeat within three days, after that heart breaking 3-1 loss away to Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) Hippos at the Kakindu Stadium on Sunday.

The FUFA Big League will take a week’s break to allow the completion of the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 matches.

Action in the second tier league will return on Wednesday, 20th February 2019 with one game when Water takes on Kabale Sharp at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

Thereafter, eight matches will be played on the subsequent day (21st February 2019).

Proline’s forward Ivan Bogere is the current top scorer with 7 goals.

Three clubs will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League by the close of business in May 2019.

The top two per group (Rwenzori and Elgon) qualify directly whilst the third one will be determined via a promotional play-off.
