BUL Football Club will for the time being own the bragging rights in Jinja.

This follows a hard fought 1-0 home win over nemesis Kirinya-Jinja S.S at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Wednesday.

Richard Wandyaka headed home the lone strike on the evening in the 54th minute.

Wandyaka rose highest to nod home past goalkeeper Sanoni Mulabi off a telling corner kick delivery by Yunus Sibira.

The real first goal scoring arrived 20 minutes into the game when James Otim broke through to face goalkeeper Sanoni Mulabi.

Mulabi was steady to thwart the danger, injuring himself in the process.

The game got physical when Yunus Sibira and Joel Madondo nearly fought following the latter’s late tackle with a high boot.

On the half hour mark, Madondo tested BUL goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo with a fierce shot on target that the former Makerere University and Ndejje University shot stopper parried out for a fruit-less corner.

After five minutes, Douglas Owori registered a weak shot on target after a body dummy past Kirinya-Jinja S.S’ Allan Drajua.

With five minutes to the climax of the opening 45 minute, Otim tested goalie Mulabi from 40 yards but the former SC Villa shotstopper was equal to the task.

Uganda Cranes defender Isaac Isinde blocked a goal bound shot from BUL forward Villa Oromchan with three minutes to the end of the opening half.

BUL forward Richard Wandyaka had the final chance of the half but he shot over from close range as the opening stanza ended goal-less.

The second half resumed on a different tempo altogether with the visitors showing more urgency.

Three minutes into the second half, Left back Isma Kawawulo had a beautiful inter-play with Godfrey Akol before releasing Faisal Muwawu who was off-side.

Madondo and Akol shot over the BUL goal in quick succession.

BUL broke the dead-lock with Richard Wandyaka’s headed goal off a well delivered corner by Yunus Sibira 10 minutes into the half.

The visitors suffered an injury set-back when they lost their jewel, Madondo before Dan ‘Papa’ Sewava took over in the 58th minute.

On the hour mark, BUL made their first change when Villa Oromochan paved way for Pierre Kambale Muhindo.

Moments later Godfrey Akol was rested for Vincent Zziwa.

Yunus Sibira limped out for Abdul Mayanja in the 67th minute.

The referee William Oloya dashed out the first caution to BUL right back Umar Mukobe following unsporting conduct with twenty minutes to play.

BUL goalkeeper was cautioned for time wasting as the minutes fast ticked away.

Sabir Marijani was introduced late by BUL for Douglas Owori in the last tactical change of the game.

There were ugly unsportsmanlike scenes towards the end of the match when BUL skipper Jimmy Kulaba denied a bottle of water to Kirinya-Jinja S.S player.

Four BUL players were booked in the match.

Oromochan, Kulaba, Mukobe and goalkeeper Ssebwalunyo were all cautioned by FIFA Referee William Oloya.

Goal hero Richard Wandyaka was named man of the match.

BUL attains their 10th win of the season, good enough to displace Tooro United from the 5th place as they clock 40 points.

Consequently, Kirinya-Jinja S.S suffered their 8th loss of the season, remaining in the 9th position with 36 points.
