2nd World Beach Woodball Championship:

  • 25th – 30th May 2019
  • Spennah Beach, Entebbe

The Government of Uganda has vowed to support the successful hosting of the second world beach woodball championship due next month.

The promise was delievered by the chairman of the National Council of Sports (NCS), Bosco Onyik during the official launch of the tourney at Lugogo in Kampala.


I would like to pledge government support towards the hosting of the second world beach woodball championship in Uganda. I wish the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) the best endeavours in hosting a successful championship.

At least $ 250,000 (at least Shs 921.1M) is ear marked as the total budget to ensure the smooth running of the championship that will be hosted at Speenah beach in Entebbe between 25th to 30th May 2018.

The Chinese Embassy in Uganda is also interested in supporting the Uganda Woodball Federation, as expressed by the deputy chief of mission in Uganda, Chen Huixin.


We are still studying the budget and pledge that we shall make a contribution.

Over 30 countries from different continents in the world have been invited.

Hosts Uganda are expected to be joined by fellow African countries as Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Ghana, South Africa and Gabon.

The others invited are; Oman, Nepal, Korea, Iran, Kazahstan, Japan, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, China, Indonesia, Macau, Vietnam, Singapore, Pakistan and Malaysia among others.

Addressing the guests during the ceremony to launch the championship during a rainy day, Uganda Woodball Federation president Paul Mark Kayongo expressed gratitude upon hosting such a global championship, tagging the opportunity as a big milestone.


Hosting this event is a great milestone to the history of sports development in Uganda and Africa as a whole. Uganda is playing a leading role on the African continent in developing and spreading the game of woodball

Meanwhile, the official tournament logo was also launched.
