Yusuf Bukenya will be returning to the National Rally Championship this weekend, nine months since he lost his rally car in a fire.

Bukenya was sent into a forced sabbatical after his Mitsubishi EvoIX burnt to ashes while in the stages of Fort Portal rally last year.

His return was not expected so soon until fellow driver; Abdul Kateete gave him an opportunity to drive again.

Bukunya now returns with a Subaru N8 offered to him by Kateete.

And the youngster is eager to hit the race track again.

“I am so excited to be back in the cockpit. It has really been longtime away but I feel so positive about the return.

“I would like to thank Kateete for such a big heart. I am so appreciative about the opportunity he gave me,” said Bukenya.

As he heads into the weekend’s Masaka rally, Bukenya wants to mark his return with a top five finish.

“I really feel positive about this event. It has really been long since I last finished a rally.

“So I will aim at finishing in the top five position this weekend. I will give it my best and I hope the car behaves,” he added.

Bukenya returns to cockpit along with co-driver Frank Serugo.
