Uganda Cup Semi-finals 2018/2019:

Semifinals (First Legs)

  • Sunday, 28th April 2019: Bright Stars Vs Express – Champions Stadium, Mwerere (4 PM)
  • Monday, 29th April 2019: Kyetume Vs Proline – Kyetume

Express Football Club head coach George Ssimwogerere has scoffed at the remaining three clubs in the Uganda Cup, warning them ahead of the first leg of the semi-final showdown this Sunday.

Speaking in the official pre-semifinal press conference at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala on Friday, without mincing words, Ssimwogerere openly notes how the Red Eagles are favourites in the tournament.

Express Football Club has an edge over other clubs in the semifinal because we are record winners. We have prepared for this match very well and we are already in camp. The positive development is that we kick off away from home and we shall finish the job at home in Wankulukuku

The Red Eagles visit the Champions Stadium, Mwererwe for the first leg of the opening semi-finals.

Bright Stars, represented by the assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka also vowed to stage a great fight.

Our players have exhibited great commitment. It is the same commitment that we shall show over the two legs. Finishing at Wankulukuku should not be a guarantee for Express because by the time we come for the return leg, we shall have done the job

The same press conference was also graced by Shafik Bisaso, the head coach at Proline who visit Kyetume on Monday.

Bisaso joked that since the opponents had skipped the pre-match press conference, it could be a walkover as well.

Kyetume had travelled to Arua for their FUFA Big League contest away to Doves All-Stars at the Green Light Stadium, Arua which ended one goal apiece.

By and large, a FUFA Big League club will face off with a top-flight side during the finals of the 2018/19 edition that will be staged at Masaka Recreational Stadium.

Express has won the tournament 10 times, just like KCCA.
