The top of the table clash in the men’s National Hockey League between Weatherhead and Wananchi lived up to the billing as the two teams put a fantastic display over the weekend.

The game ended with no winner with the scoreboard reading two all at the end of the day.

Topher Kyamanywa gave Weatherhead the lead in the 21st minute but this lasted for a short period with Derrick Akuwa restoring parity three minutes later.

Akuwa, later on, scored on the day before Weatherhead rallied back through Vincent Kasasa to salvage a point.

Weatherhead’s Peter Elolu was shown red for indiscipline while Tonny Okema of Wananchi was sent off for drinking Alcohol on the touchline.

The result means Weatherhead ended the first round of the league top of the table on 16 points two ahead of second-placed Wananchi.

In the other men’s game played Rockets second from bottom got their first win this season edging bottom placed Historicals 3-2.

Simon Peter Oyugi (brace) and David Kyaligonza scored for Rockets while Historicals got their goals through Jjuko Kwagala and Martin Owako.

Angella Nakintu scored the lone goal that guided Kampala Hockey Club to victory against Rhino in the ladies category.

The victory elevated them to third place on five points just one behind leaders Wananchi.
