FUFA Women’s Cup | Quarterfinal
- Wednesday, 1st May 2019
- Lady Doves Vs Olila High School – Katushabe stadium, Masindi
Lady Doves want to make a big statement in their first season and that’s becoming the first team to win the domestic double in women’s football in Uganda.
The Masindi based side have already sent out a signal to the rest of the competitors about their target this season first by winning the Maama Becca Memorial tournament a fortnight ago.
And the hunger for more success is still on according to head coach Oliver Mbekeka who wants her team to compete on all fronts.
Fresh from defeating Kawempe Muslim over the weekend, Mbekeka asserts that their target is to win all the trophies at their disposal.
“We want to remain focused and competitive on all fronts. I believe we can still compete both for the league and the Cup.”
The former footballer is aware of the threat that her opponents Olila pose but she is optimistic Lady Doves will win on Wednesday to proceed.
“They (Olila) are a good team with so many young and talented players. We respect them but our aim is to win today and progress.”
Lady Doves Creative midfielder Riticia Nabossa will be facing her former team for the first time since making a move last season.
Olila had mixed results in the league over the weekend first defeating Isra Soccer Academy before falling to Makerere University.
To reach this stage, Lady Doves and Olila eliminated Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim respectively.
She Corporate and Makerere University have already sealed their slots in the semifinals after winning against Uganda Martyrs and Kawempe Muslim Junior Team last week.
The other quarterfinal fixture will be between Echoes High School from Soroti and Tooro Queens from Fort Portal on a later date.
