Eric Bengi is highly optimistic he will make the most of his first outing outside of Kenya by registering a first seasonal finish.
Bengi and co-driver Tuta Mionki are among the Kenyan contingent at the third round of Africa Rally Championship; the Zambia International Rally due this weekend in Ndola, Zambia.
“We are very excited to head south to compete in Zambia. It’s our first event outside Kenya thanks to our sponsors who have made it possible.
“We have a tough season this year with no event finish so far. As we head to Zambia, we remain optimistic to a strong finish,” he says.
Following consecutive disappointments this season, Bengi believes the Zambia rally will provide the opportunity to put to test their resilience.
“We have experienced this situation before and what we learnt was to keep focused. We have been spending a lot of time with the car to understand each other and practicing intensely.
“Our outing to Zambia is both an experience out of our comfort zone and a practice at the international arena. We are preparing for better things to come,” he asserted.
Just like Bengi, Tuta is looking forward to a new experience in Zambia.
“I am looking forward to competing in a completely new environment with some of the fastest drivers in the continent.
“We hope to have fun and get more seat time before Safari rally since we have spent months with competing,” she said.
Manvir Baryan, Onkar Rai, Baldev Chager, Tejveer Rai and Carl Tundo are the other Kenyan crews for Zambia rally.
