Event: Third Royal Regatta (Amaato Ga Kabaka)

All is set for ahead of the third
edition for the Royal Regatta (Amaato ga Kabaka) championship.
For starters, the championship will
be held this Saturday 8th June at Nabugabo Landing site, Masaka.
The King of Buganda Kingdom, His
majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has duly confirmed that
he will grace this event.
Eng. Ben Immanuel Ben Misagga, the
chairperson of the local organizing committee is steering the initial preparations
to ensure a smooth and successful event.
Addressing the media at Kati Kati
Restaurant along Lugogo by-pass in Kampala on Wednesday, Misagga proved that
indeed everything is in place to have a successful event.
All is set ahead of the Royal Regatta competition slated for this Saturday at Nabugabo Sand beach in Masaka. 18 counties will take in the event with the ultimate winners walking away with various prizes. The Kabaka of Buganda will arrive at 12 noon to grace the function.The check in of the boats will be done on Thursday at the venue of the function. We also have lots of entertainment from various musicians.

Meanwhile, more corporate entities
continue to embrace the event.
Barely 24 hours after Star Times Company
gave out dishes and decoders, Pearl
Seeds Limited has also graciously given out 10 Smart phones to the organizing
committee.
Richard Cliff Masagazi, the managing
director of the company expressed delight associating with such an event which
the Kabaka has blessed.

Ancient canoeing competitions in Buganda Kingdom
The winners of this year’s edition
will walk away with a trophy and gold medals, the runners up silver medals and
second runners up bronze medals.
Buganda Kingdom has a rich history as regards canoe, rowing, dragon boating and kayaking.
Dating as far back as 800 years ago, the first muganda Kintu used to canoe and kayak.
Also, there were events held on the
water for navy security.
By and large, the issue of the royal
regatta is a traditional activity that is part and parcel of the Buganda norms.
