Zimbabwe Warriors confirmed their final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which includes a lion’s share of players based in South Africa.

There are two Tanzanian based players in the dread-locked Young African’s Thabani Kamusoko and Azam’s Tafadzwa Kutinyu who are both midfielders.

Polokwane City’s goalkeeper George Chigova, Baroka’s Elvis Chipezeze and Witbank Spurs’ Edmore Sibanda are the three confirmed goalkeepers.

Experienced defender Teenage Hadebe who features at Kaizer Chiefs leads the crop of defenders on the team.

Others are Golden Arrows’ Divine LungaRonaldPfumbidzai (Bloemfontein Celtic), Tendai Darikwa (Nottingham Forest), Jimmy Dzingai (Power Dynamos) and CEFN Druids’ Alec Mudimu.

Posterboy Khama Billiat of Kaizer Chiefs leads the star studded midfield.

Club Brugge’s Marvelous Nakamba,Talent Chawapihwa (AmaZulu), Danny Phiri (Golden Arrows), Marshall Munetsi (Orlando Pirates), Ovidy Karuru (AmaZulu), Kudakwashe Mahachi (Orlando Pirates), as well as the two Tanzanian legion in Thabani Kamusoko (Young Africans) and Tafadzwa Kutinyu (Azam) are the other midfielders on the team.

The forwards on the Zimbabwe team are; Knowledge Musona (Anderlecht), Nyasha Mushekwi (Dalian Yifang), Tinotenda Kadewere (Le Havre), Knox Mutizwa (Golden Arrows), and SuperSport United’ Evans Rusike.

Over the weekend, Zimbabwe shared the spoils with Nigeria in an international friendly game.

Zimbabwe is housed in group A alongside hosts Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda Cranes.
