King’s College, Budo Oval
- Avengers 114/2 in 25.3 overs beat Aziz Damani Development Team 1 (ADDT1) 110/10 in 30.3 overs by 8 wickets.
- Player of the Match: Harsh Panchal (Avengers)
Avengers stayed on course for promotion to Division One with commanding nine-wicket win over Aziz Damani Development side.
Aziz Damani has been the in-form side of Division 2 picking up key wins against Wanderers and Premier. On the other hand, Avengers have played fewer games compared to their rivals and needed to pick up so that they stay in touch with the top teams.
Aziz Damani won the toss and chose to bat first but an inspired bowling performance from Harsh Panchal (6/22) threw a spanner in the works as he helped his side skittle out Aziz Damani for just 110. Only Ronald Omara (47) offered some resistance from Aziz Damani with no support from any of his teammates.
In the chase, Avengers wasted little time knocking off the deficit as the hard-hitting Umer Waseem (35) laid into the Damani attack to ensure that Avengers wins the game very comfortably.
The win for Avengers makes the race for promotion interesting in Division 2. Only 2 teams can be promoted out of the eight teams but midway through the season, the boys are being separated from the men.
Aziz Damani stays on top of the table but they have played three more games than second-placed Avengers and Wanderers who are in 3rd.
The other Division 2 was not played but Jinja SSS earned all match points without breaking a sweat. They were awarded a walk over against Budo who were adjudged to be late by the match officials.
Budo are desperate for points to stay up and this loss will harm their Division 2 status especially coming from their close competition in Jinja SSS.
