Six players could make their international debut for the Rugby Cranes this weekend when Uganda takes on Kenya in the first leg of the Elgon Cup.

The 23 players travelling to the Western town of Kisumu were revealed on Monday afternoon and three of the new faces turn out for Heathens. Hooker Ronald Kanyanya, as well as center Jordan Bongomin and winger Paul Masendi, will be playing for the fifteens side for the first time.

USIU’s hooker Joseph Kagimu, Kenya Harlequins winger Daudi Ssemwami and Jinja Hippos fullback Maxwell Ebonga are the other players that could make the 15s debut.

The team has some experience especially on the forward line with Asuman Mugerwa, Santos Senteza, Collin Kimbowa, new captain Brian Asaba and Charles Uhuru on the team. Impala Saracens front row Saul Kivumbi, locks Simon Olet (Heathens) and Robert Aziku (Kobs), Pirates eight-man Desire Ayera, Kabras’ Eliphaz Emong and Rhinos Byron Oketayot complete the forwards on the team.

Heathens’ flyhalf Robert Masendi is the most experienced halfback on the team. Aaron Afoyrwoth (Kenya Harlequin) and Paul Epilo (Heathens) are the other halfbacks in the side

Kobs trio of Pius Ogena, Ian Munyani and Adrian Kasito complete the team of 23.
