In preparation for the forthcoming Zone V Championship, Uganda’s men (Silverbacks) and women’s (Gazelles) national teams have entered residential camp on Tuesday.

FUBA Publicity and Marketing secretary Arnold Katabi confirmed that the two teams entered residential camp at Africa Bible University in Lubowa along Entebbe road.

“The management reached an agreement with the African Bible University, Lubowa for us to have a residential training camp there. So both Gazelles & Silverbacks have checked into the University on Tuesday morning and that is where our full residential training camp will be held,” he said.

Initially, the teams were supposed to start training at Lugogo Indoor Arena last week but the facility was already booked by the She Cranes preparing for the Netball World Cup.

The camp has already been boosted with the arrival of Brandon Davies who arrived in the country on Monday and Urysla Cotton Kerenza who features for BA London Lions.

Gazelles last featured at AfroBasket championship in 2015 when they defeated Egypt to win the lone ticket.

Both the AfroBasket and AfroCan championships have one slot for the winners of the Zone V Championship.

Uganda will host the Zone V Championship from June 26th to July 1st with an aim of making the cut for the continental tournaments.
