Bulemeezi and Kyaggwe earned hard-fought victories over the weekend to ascend to the summit of their respective groups in the ongoing Airtel Masaza Cup.

Whereas Bulemeezi pipped ten man Kooki 2-1 at home in Kasana, Luweero, Kyaggwe secured an identical result but winning on the road against Kabula in the game played in Lyantonde.

Frank Nyombi converted from the spot to give Bulemezi the lead after Kooki’s Fauzi Aliganyira handled a goal-bound ball.

Aliganyira was shown marching orders and Kooki ended the game with ten players.

Before the break, midfielder Hamza Mulambuzi a student at Buddo SS doubled the lead for Simon Mugerwa’s charges.

Kooki pulled one back in the second half through Owen Busongoza but only settled for a consolation goal.

The victory moved Bulemeezi top of the table in Butikkiro group on five points, one ahead of second-placed Buddu.

In the same group, Mawokota who edged Mawogola with a 1-0 win also moved to four points.

Kooki dropped to second from bottom with three points while Mawogola is yet to pick a point.

Kyaggwe extended their perfect start in Muganzirwaza group following their 2-1 win against Kabula a result that took them top on seven points.

Ronald Bithum Nsumbiano and Umar Kiyemba (penalty) scored for Kyaggwe while Kabula got their goal through Hassan Nduggwa (penalty).

Butambala forced a one all draw away to Busujju to remain second on five points. The latter also remained third with three points while Kabula is bottom of the table with no point.

Elsewhere, Ssese came from two goals down to earn a point against Gomba in Masengere group.

Bugerere registered their first win defeating Buvuma.

Defending champions Ssingo, Gomba, Bugerere and Ssese all have four points in Masengere group.

Busiro maintained their lead in Bulange group despite playing out a goalless draw at home against Kyadondo.

They moved to seven points in three games. Kyadondo is second on four points while Buluuli and Buwekula have three points each.

Action will resume on Sunday, 30th June 2019 with four games on the card. Ssingo will host Buvuma, Bugerere will be at home to Gomba in Ntenjeru, Buddu will make the trip to Mawokota while wounded Kooki will seek recovery at home against Mawogola.
