KCCA Leopards had the best form from the start of the second round of the National Basketball League regular season.

The side had only lost once until Monday when they fell 59-57 to UCU Lady Canons in Game 2 of the Playoff Semifinal a side they last lost to.

While the defeat was only their second in the second round and playoffs combined, it could have been the start of the end of Leopards’ season.

KCCA, despite leading for the larger duration of the Game 3, lost to their perennial rivals UCU Lady Canons to fall 2-1 behind in the five-game series.

Leopards led 17-15 at the end of the first quarter and the lead was 33-30 at halftime.

After the break, KCCA Leopards led by as many as 8 points but the lead was cut down to 4 (53-49) going into the fourth quarter.

The team matched shot-for-shot in the fourth quarter until the final three minutes when the Lady Canons started to create a separation.

Player of the game Rose Akon dominated the interior scoring game-high 25 points on 12-for-14 shooting from the field. She also picked game-high 13 rebounds. Zaina Lokwameri added 16 points and handed out 7 assists while Brenda Kayaga contributed 11 points.

Martha Soigi matched game-high 25 points in a losing effort and picked 9 rebounds. Joy Chemtai (15 points) was the only other KCCA player to score in double figures.

Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Friday, November 22 at Lugogo.
