  • RESULT: Buffaloes 15-03 Rams

Buffaloes Rugby Club took the honour of claiming the first win of the 2021 Nile Special Stout Rugby Premier League when they beat Rams, 15-03, on Saturday afternoon.

This was during the early kickoff match played under the seering heat at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

Buffaloes were dominant in the set piece throughout the game, testament to the expert input from Brian Makalama.

It was a slow start to the game with both teams still yet to unlock each other’s defense.

Rams’ Joseph Kana scored the first points of the game with a penalty just after quarter an hour but Buffaloes responded with one of their own through Liam Walker.

The teams couldn’t be separated at the break as the score was 03-03 for the remainder of the game.

In the second half, Buffaloes were in the driving seat almost immediately due to two yellow cards awarded in succession to Rams’ Odoch Raymond and Humphrey Magero.

The scoreboard then started ticking only for the home side with a beautiful try from flanker Solomon Agany. Liam Walker, who had a man-of-the-match-worthy performance added the extras to make it 10-03.

Buffaloes went ahead to deny Rams the losing bonus point when substitute Okello Vincent touched down in the last play of the match.

Next weekend, Buffaloes face Heathens in the Kyadondo derby while Rams host Rhinos at Makerere.
