Heathens Rugby Club have named a strong 23-man team for the opening tie of the 2021 season against Black Pirates.

The match will be played at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Mohammed Athio has gone for a heavy forward pack to earn a physical advantage over Pirates whose strength is in the backline.

With club veteran hooker Alex Mubiru out of the squad, Ronald Kanyanya has been tasked with winning Heathen’s set pieces especially the lineout.

Nobert Okeny will earn his Heathens debut when he starts at the openside wing after joining from rivals Kobs in the most recent transfer window.

Michael Wokorach and Innocent Gwokto combine in the midfield Joseph Oyet, who scored the only try when the two teams met last season, will command from fullback.

Rather unusual is Lawrence Sebuliba who is set to start at the openside flank. Sebuliba has played at the wing for the past three seasons.

On paper, the team appears to match favourably with the Pirates lineup
