Buffaloes vs Heathens line out

Heathens emerged victorious on match day two to continue their great start to the 2021 Nile Stout Rugby season on Saturday.

Heathens needed 6 tries, a penalty and three conversions to clinically dispose hosts Buffaloes 03-39 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

Innocent Gwokto crossed for two tries, with further scores from Jordan Bongomin, captain Paul Epillo, Nobert Okeny and Claude Ivan Otema.

It was one way traffic after Heathens responded to Kevin Makmot’s penalty that opened the scoring in the first half.

A Jordan Bongomin try brought Heathens back in the game as outright contenders for victory, before Joseph Oyet comfortably split the posts.

Heathens’ dominance continued to take shape when Innocent Gwokto crashed over twice all credited to spectacular ball movement across the field.

The onslaught proceeded after the break with Heathens captain Paul Epillo and Nobert Okeny both crossing the whitewash in fashion.

The latter try got fans on their toes when he sprinted home from his own half to touch under the posts.

Calude Ivan Otema again benefited from Heathens swift exchanges and great handling to easily touch at the left corner.

Man of the match Aaron Ofoyrwoth sealed the visitors’ win with a fine penalty at the death to mark another successful chapter in Muhammad Athio’s tenure this term.
