- KCCA 1-1 Police
KCCA and Police FC played to an entertaining 1-1 draw at the MTN stadium, Lugogo on Friday afternoon to keep hopes of keeping table leaders in sight.
Muwadda Mawejje scored for the visitors while Sadat Anaku netted for KCCA.
The Cops started brighter pinning KCCA at the back and their effort paid in the 13th minute when Muwadda got at the end of Duncan Sseninde cutback to slot home.
Sseninde who had a good game on the day beat everyone in the KCCA defence before laying for the former KCCA winger to punish his former bosses.
Police remained dominant with Johnson Odong, Muwadda and Sseninde threatening with attacks as Man of the Match Yusuf Ssozi thwarted everything in the middle with clever interceptions and initiating play from deep.
Abdallah Mubiru withdrew Brian Mululi before the break for the experienced Henry Kisekka and the first half ended with Police on top.
Mike Mutebi made a change replacing the off colour Moses Aliro for Keziron Kizito at the start of the break but it was still the Cops that tested Charles Lukwago.
The goalkeeper made saves to deny Kisekka and Tonny Kiwalazi in quick succession which kept Mutebi’s charges in the game.
He also denied substitute Ben Ocen who made his first appearance since Chan with a fingertip save that hit the bar and went over.
KCCA then started to dominate with Bright Anukani, Charles Lwanga and Samson Kigozi who had a silent game all threatening and they were duly paid in the 73rd when Anaku headed home Samuel Kato cross.
Anukani could have won it for KCCA in the last minutes but shot over with the goal at his mercy after beating his men in the area.
The draw means KCCA stay fourth with 27 points, two ahead of 5th placed Police.
Next on menu for KCCA is a trip to Kitende where they face champions Vipers on Wednesday while Police host Express FC on Tuesday.
