In our new series, “Five Questions with”, Kawowo Sports challenges Uganda’s famous sports stars to share little-known aspects of their lives.
Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
The strength I believe in to be a great athlete, is mostly self-belief and hard work because every one can be talented but not everyone can work hard that’s where hard work beats talent and that’s what I really try to do.
Which sport would you play if you were not playing football and why?
Well, the sport that I would play if I wasn’t playing football would be probably basketball or volleyball because I loved basketball and by the time we were growing up it really had some sponsors like sprite and as a teenager it was the coolest thing ever.
Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model and why?
For the athlete I looked up too was definitely Sadic Wassa who was the goalkeeper of Uganda cranes by then and KCCA because they used to talk about him soo much on radio and describe how good he was. So, I also wanted to be as famous as he was by then.
Rank the top five priorities currently in your life.
- Well the 1st priority is my family, wife and kids because they are the reason I work hard so they are first priority and that includes my mummy and siblings.
- Changing the next generation’s lives so that they do not struggle as much as I did while growing up.
- Winning as much as I can because football is all about winning and that will inspire my kids to have a strong mentality better than mine going forward in future.
- Spending quality time with my family when I have a chance because they make me a better person.
- Having fun when I get a chance because football is always stressful so for me to have some fun with either friends or family makes me feel relaxed and freshens up my mind and it’s one of the priorities I must fulfil.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gained from your career?
The best piece of advice I have ever received is never to be selfish and be a team player because in life you can never make it to the top alone and alway share the little you have because you might change someone else’s life or more that that would be saving a life but most importantly believe in the process because God always has a plan for everyone and you must believe in Gods process.
