Uganda Cricket Association has revealed the final 14 that will represent Uganda in Namibia for the Castle Lite Series.

The final squad was revealed after the squad had done their mandatory Covid travel tests. Team Captain Brian Masaba misses out on the trip due to a troublesome hamstring and in his absence, his vice Arnold Otwani takes the reigns.

The final 14 is full of experience with youngster Cosmas Kyewuta set to be handed his senior debut while Uganda A captain Frank Akankwasa, Kenneth Waiswa, and Trevor Bukenya also get a look in ahead of their peers. Emmanuel Hasahya is unfortunate to miss out due to the luxury in resources amongst the top order batsmen but he will surely get his chance.

The reliable trio of Dinesh Nakrani, Ronak Patel and Riazat Ali Sha will be needed to hold the middle order together while also helping out with picking wickets especially for Riazat and Dinesh.

A rejuvenated Roger Mukasa makes the traveling team and it will be interesting to see if he can replicate the form he has shown in the trial games on the international scene. Hamu Bagenda Kayondo also makes a return to the Cricket Cranes after some time out of the team. The 6.30 am workouts due to their busy work schedules with coach Laurence Mahatlane have paid off for both Hamu and Roger.

The evergreen Frank Nsubuga will share the slow bowling duties with Henry Ssenyondo and the fast bowling roles will be shared by Jonathan Ssebanja, Trevor Bukenya, and Cosmas Kyweuta. Ssebanja has been impressive in the trial games and despite his rather high economy rate, he has the knack of picking wickets which is very crucial in winning games.

The side flies out of the country tonight and will arrive in Windhoek tomorrow afternoon. They will play their first T20 game on Saturday at the Wanderers Cricket Ground.
