  • Emirates Invitational 7s: Tournament One – Day One
  • Result: Argentina 38-14 Uganda

Uganda Men’s Sevens lost their opening match, 38-14, to Argentina during the first tournament weekend of the Emirates Invitational 7s.

Argentina were quick off the blocks in the first half to score two tries and lead 12-00. But Uganda reacted in the later stages of the first half through two tries by Philip Wokorach and Michael Okorach.

Wokorach was the beneficiary of a good kick receipt and offload by Ian Munyani before sprinting away for his converted try. Okorach ran a timely support line to receive the ball and touch down under the poles for Uganda to lead 14-12 at half time.

Argentina responded immediately after half time with a try to make it 17-14, and take control of the game.

Uganda’s discipline would be their own undoing thereafter as Wokorach got sent to the bin for a dangerous tackle.

It was one way traffic from there onwards as the South Americans ran in two tries to win 38-14 at full time.

Uganda will be facing Canada in their second match at 2:22pm EAT before concluding day one against Japan.
