Eric Kambale scored a brace while Godfrey Lwesibawa scored once as Express FC completed a double over URA with a 3-1 win to get within a point of leaders.

Lwesibawa opened the scoring for the hosts with a header on ten minutes getting at the end of Charles Musiige cross before Kambale made it 2-0 with another header eight minutes later – Lwesibawa turning provider from a free kick.

It got worse for Sam Ssimbwa’s side in the 38th minute as man of the match Kambale scored again from the spot after a foul by Brian Majwega by debutant Martin Kizza.

Nine minutes after the break, the hosts went a man down after Murushid Jjuuko got a second booking and four minutes later, Mukwala scored from the spot to cut the deficit.

At the time, URA were in ascendency and asked questions but the Red Eagles held on to complete a rare double over the tax men.

The six time champions are now on 35 points, one behind both Vipers and URA after 16 games.

Next on menu for either is the Stanbic Uganda Cup where Express FC face Kyetume while URA take on Mbarara City on home and away basis.
