Mike Mutebi is one of the best and most successful coaches in Uganda.

As a coach and as an individual is as harsh as they get with his trophy winning legacy at KCCA inseparable from often sensational and spectacular ways in which he has fallen out with others.

We have rounded up Mutebi’s past bust-ups with his own players from past to present, bring to you all need to know.

Zakaria Lubega

The former SC Villa striker fell out with Mutebi while a student at Kibuli SS.

During one of the school games, Mutebi subbed Lubega, something that didn’t go down well with the player and he threw away the jersey as he got off.

Mutebi vowed never to play the lanky vowed until the school Headmaster, Hajji Abbas Kawaase intervened.

The two (Mutebi and Lubega) had had some bickering prior to the incident.

Denis Iguma

Surprising that the two re-united at KCCA recently before Mutebi was forced to leave the club.

While at SC Villa, Mutebi had a tactical disagreement with his captain then and exchanged words which didn’t go well with the gaffer.

Mutebi vowed not to play the defender cum midfielder again and ended up selling him to then Fufa Big League side, SC Victoria University.

At the time, Iguma was one of the best rising talents at Villa Park.

Patrick Ssenfuka

Still at Villa, Mutebi nearly got beaten by midfielder Patrick Ssenfuka.

The fall out stemmed from Ssenfuka’s salary cuts over issues indiscipline and when he demanded to know why his money was less, Mutebi’s explanations fell on a deaf ear and the two nearly exchanged blows.

Muhammad Shaban

The two enjoyed an on and off relationship at Lugogo after a big money move for Shaban from Onduparaka.

At one time, Mutebi even demanded a written apology from the centre forward over indiscipline.

Reports even suggest that before scoring the winner against St. George to earn KCCA a Caf Champions’ League group spot, he had been left out of the squad for failure to report to training after the first leg.

Moses Ndaula

He comes from a footballing family that has produced Moses Ndaula (Senior) and Sula Kato among others.

The soft spoken attacking midfielder fell out with Mutebi while at Villa and during a league game between Villa and Water FC in Luzira in 2012, Ndaula offered to give boots to Mutebi to enter into the fray after a touchline burst up.

Ndaula went on to score the winning goal in that game for the Jogoos.

Ceaser Okhuti

When he joined KCCA from Express FC in 2017, he didn’t last at Lugogo and quit for Onduparaka.

During one training session at Lugogo, Mutebi openly criticised Okhuti and wondered how he was a national team player.

The striker walked right from the other half of the pitch as training went on and went straight to Mutebi and didn’t have kind words for him before retreating to join his teammates and training went on.

Robert Ssentongo

Ssentongo is another player that crossed paths with Mutebi on several occasions during his most recent stint at Lugogo.

His late coming and off pitch discipline infuriated Mutebi and the two always had an on and off relationship until the forward left.
